The Frog's Chorus Lyrics
A frog croaks on a rainy May day, then hops, splashes and calls to its neighbours, until all the frogs agree to come and croak together when the moon is up.
The Frog's Chorus
"YAUP, yaup, yaup!"
Said the croaking voice of a Frog:
"A rainy day
In the month of May,
And plenty of room in the bog."
"Yaup, yaup, yaup!"
Said the Frog as it hopped away:
"The insects feed
On the floating weed,
And I'm hungry for dinner to-day."
"Yaup, yaup, yaup!"
Said the Frog, as it splashed about:
"Good neighbours all,
When you hear me call,
It is odd that you do not come out."
"Yaup, yaup, yaup!"
Said the Frogs; "it is charming weather;
We'll come and sup,
When the moon is up,
And we'll all of us croak together."

What Does The Frog's Chorus Mean?
Each verse begins with the same call, Yaup, yaup, yaup!, which is the sound the frog makes. In the first verse the frog likes a rainy day in May and the plenty of room in the bog. In the second it hops away, hungry, and the insects on the floating weed are its dinner. In the third it splashes about and calls to its neighbours, wondering why they do not come out.
In the last verse the other frogs answer. They agree the weather is just right and say that they will come and sup, which means eat supper, when the moon is up, and croak all together.
History and Origin
The poem is in a collection called Mother Goose's Nursery Rhymes. The book names no author for it. It has four verses of five lines, and every verse starts with the croak.
